The First Three-Nucleon Interaction Between a Gaza Hospital and a Hamas-Infancing Ambulance Facility
It was the first of at least four strikes involving multiple munitions on different sections of the sprawling complex between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday morning. The director of Al-Shifa said in a phone interview that many people had been killed and wounded.
Israel claims that Al-Shida was hit by a Palestinian projectile and that there was a second hospital in the same area that was hit last month.
The New York Times obtained pictures of weapons fragments from the scene that show three of the projectiles may have been Israeli.
The conditions at Al-Shifa Hospital, and other medical facilities in Gaza, are worsening to new unimaginable levels, according to health officials and humanitarian groups on the ground.
An analysis of video footage shows that three projectiles were fired into the hospital from the north and south, contrary to a map released by the I.D.F., which it said was based on radar detections. A review of satellite images showed there were I.D.F. positions north and south of the hospital early Friday.
TEL AVIV, Israel — Gaza’s largest hospital reports that it has buried more than 100 people in a mass grave, as it says bodies decompose in its courtyard and babies are dying because their incubators have no power.
The Gaza Department of Health: “Is the hospital a shelter place for displaced people fleeing the bombing, not the Hamas,” said Caney
“Our staff is saying there is no electricity,” said Paul Caney, the group’s emergency coordinator. The people are trapped in the corridors because of the fire near the windows and they can’t move the patients to ambulances.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza says that more than 11,000 Palestinians have died there. Officials report a rising death toll as Israel continues its siege on the region in response to the Oct. 7 attacks by the militant group Hamas. However, the health officials said there have been challenges in updating the tally for the third day in a row due to service and communication disruptions.
Injuries and displaced Palestinians who fear going to the south are crowded into hospitals in the north for shelter.
The administration and hospital stores were included in the design of the hospital, according to Gaza health officials. It has become a shelter place for displaced people fleeing the bombing to take shelter inside the hospital.”
